Dental crown
A dental crown is a prosthesis that covers and protects a damaged or weakened tooth, closely matching the shape and color of your natural tooth.
A dental crown may behelpfulfor several reasons
- It provides added protection for a root-canal-treated or weakened tooth.
- It restores teeth with large cavities or extensive fillings.
- It can be placed on a dental implant or serve as an abutment for a bridge.
- It enhances damaged, stained, or misaligned teeth for a brighter smile.
At Aura, we mainly create all-ceramic crowns, which offer excellent esthetics; zirconia provides outstanding strength.
Here are thestepsof placing a dental crown
-
Diagnosis
Your dentist performs a detailed examination of the tooth to confirm that a crown is needed and to choose between ceramic, metal, or porcelain-fused-to-metal.
-
Preparation
The tooth is prepared, then an impression is taken to create a custom-made crown. A temporary crown is placed in the meantime.
-
Final placement
At the second appointment, the crown is adjusted for comfort and esthetics before being securely bonded to the tooth.

A crownbuilt to last
A crown is designed to last a long time—10 to 20 years or more. How long it lasts depends largely on your oral hygiene: brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups are essential.
