Digital radiography
Digital dental radiography uses X-rays to produce high-quality images of the teeth, gums, bone, and jaw joints.
Digital radiography ishelpfulfor several reasons
- It helps diagnose problems that can’t be seen with the naked eye, such as cavities between teeth.
- It helps detect infections and problems affecting the roots or bone.
- Images are captured faster and are of higher quality than with traditional radiography.
- It helps plan treatments such as implants, orthodontics, or wisdom tooth extraction.
Digital radiography is safer than traditional radiography because it uses lower doses of X-rays.
Here are thestepsof an X-ray exam
-
Choosing the exam
Depending on your needs, your dentist chooses an intraoral X-ray, a panoramic X-ray, a 3D Cone Beam scan, or a lateral cephalometric X-ray.
-
Taking the images
The process is painless. For an intraoral X-ray, the sensor placed in the mouth may feel slightly uncomfortable for some patients.
-
Analysis
Digital images are available quickly, allowing your dentist to diagnose and treat problems faster and more accurately.

Frequently askedquestions
Have a question?
We’re happy to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to write to us or give us a call.
Why do I need a dental X-ray?
X-rays help diagnose problems that can’t be seen with the naked eye, such as cavities between teeth, infections, or problems affecting the roots or bone.
Can pregnant women have dental X-rays?
It’s best to avoid X-rays during pregnancy unless it’s an absolute emergency. Always let your dentist know if you are pregnant or think you might be.
Why does my child need an X-ray?
In children, X-rays help monitor tooth development, detect early cavities, and assess damage after an injury.
Can I refuse an X-ray?
Yes, that is your right. However, refusing may limit your dentist’s ability to diagnose and treat certain problems.
